A queer poly-disciplinary performance artist and expressionist, Synead’s inspiration and motivation is deeply rooted in her quest for collective healing, self-awareness, and the freedom and advancement of queer, black and indigenous people of color.

She utilizes various movement-based practices & healing modalities such as yoga, breath-work, and music exploration to dismantle fear-based thinking around various identities in order to self-actualize our deepest creative desires.

Her creative practice consists of exploring, sustaining, and reinventing the provisional nature of humanity as it relates to the environment in its macro and micro moments. It is paramount to her experience as a creative to host intimate moments of reflection with self and the community at large in order to create cycles of support that consider intimacy and safety for others to reflect, retain, and/or release.

She was named one of Teen Vogue’s “17 Rising Stars Who Personify Black Excellence During Black History Month” and was a keynote speaker at Harvard’s Alumni of Color Conference in connection to her work as a social justice advocate, activist, and organizer for Millions March NYC and beyond. Some of Synead’s other projects include Mercy Mistress executive produced by Margaret Cho, Gethsemane Herron-Coward’s Blanks produced by The Signature Theater, her solo music career as recognized and uplifted by MTV, Okayplayer, Quiet Lunch, and more.

In the last years, Synead has collaborated and performed with various artists at renowned spaces such as Lincoln Center, Dizzy’s Jazz Club, City Winery, Ronnie Scott’s, & Brooklyn, Bowl, just to name a few. She has modeled for Vogue Italia, made her Off-Broadway debut in the New York Times Critic’s Pick and Drama Desk nominated jazz opera, The Hang, the HBO-series Random Acts of Flyness, as well as received various nominations for her role as Zuzu in the award-winning independent film, Poets Are The Destroyers.

Synead’s artistry is not bound by medium, but bound to the varied expressions of living a full and ever-present life that will be remembered beyond the here and now.
